Chicago land

well, I made it back ALIVE!!!

Let's see, a day by day account of Shell's Chicago trip, by.... Shell (of course)

Friday~we drive and drive and drive and drive and drive and FINALLY get there to the hotel. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in the city. After we got valet parking taken care of and unloaded into our room, we decided to walk to the Navy Pier. We walked about half-way up it to see what was there. It was dark out so seeing the ferris wheel lit up was pretty. The walk there was interesting. Had to walk up some really nasty stairs to get to the top of a bridge, and it smelled like urine really bad in there. YUCK! Then when we got back to the hotel, we ate at this sports bar in the hotel. There are 5 restaurants in our hotel!

Saturday~ Got up and got showered and ready and then left. Started out walking around town and found some cheesy little touristy shops. Had lunch at Bennigans (they have YUMMY hotwings!) and headed to Buckingham Fountain. Walked around the fountain and took pictures and then headed to Lake Michigan. Walked over to the Shedd Aquarium and bought some water taxi tickets while we were outside. Went through the Shedd Aquarium. The Oceanarium is the best, which is where the whales and dolphins are. I bought a magnet for a souvenier and shirts for the boys. When we were done there, we took the water taxi back to the Navy Pier, then walked around there some more again. I really like the Pier. Then we took a water taxi from there to the Sears Tower.

By this point we were both sore and tired. We had done ALOT of walking that day and so we basically just went up there and looked out each sides window and left. Took a taxi back to the hotel. MY FIRST TAXI RIDE, and I do NOT wanna do THAT again! LOL It sucked! They really do drive as bad as they say!!!

When we got back to the hotel, we CRASHED! We ordered a pizza to be delivered and we layed in bed. At 10pm there were fireworks on the pier and we could hear them from our room. I wish we would have had the energy/stamina to go see them, but I was soooo sore. I wore the worst shoes to be walking all day!

Sunday~woke up, and left to finish site seeing. We were going to go to Tiffany's but it seemed that most shops were closed. So we walked part of the Magnificent Mile. I got a shirt at the Hard Rock Cafe for myself. Saw Grant Park and Lincoln Park and ate at Bennigans AGAIN... yup, I think I got addicted to their hot wings :-) Then we headed to Soldier Field to meet Todd's ex-wife and get his kids back...

Here is where the story gets good...Collapse )
